Jess Wen Schnitzer is a Policy Associate with TG&A. Most recently, she served as a Legislative Fellow in the Office of Congresswoman Grace Meng through the Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies (APAICS). In this role, she managed a broad legislative portfolio covering education, health care, civil rights, housing, and the environment, while supporting the Congresswoman’s appropriations work as Ranking Member of the House Commerce, Justice, and Science Appropriations Subcommittee. During her fellowship, she played an instrumental role in advancing menstrual health legislation, working closely with women’s health coalitions and national stakeholders to build broad support.
A Boston native, Jess began her career in local government and politics, working on the campaign for Mayor Michelle Wu and in the office of City Councilor Kenzie Bok, where she contributed to neighborhood services and COVID-19 recovery. At the federal level, she also served as a Stanley Miller Fellow in the Office of Congressman Stephen F. Lynch, supporting his work on the Financial Services and Oversight Committees through research and policy analysis.
Jess is a proud graduate of the University of Washington, where she earned a B.A. in Classical Studies and in Law, Societies, & Justice. Outside of her professional work, she volunteers with Miriam’s Kitchen, a nonprofit dedicated to ending chronic homelessness in Washington, DC, serving as both a grant writer and sous chef. She remains deeply committed to public service and advocacy at the local, national, and global levels.
